Basilica of the Holy Cross, right aisle: "Sepulchre of Michelangelo Buonarroti", designed by Vasari after the remains of the great artist arrived in Florence from Rome (1564).Three sculptures represent the personifications of the Painting (by Battista Lorenzi, also author of the bust of the artist), around 1568, of the Sculpture (by Valerio Cioli) and of the Architecture (attributed to Battista Lorenzi, already referred to Giovanni Bandini) , saddened by the disappearance of the great master. The whole of the tomb is a mixture of painting, sculpture and architecture. The frescoes are by Giovan Battista Naldini.
