Basilica of the Holy Cross: "Monument to Niccolò Machiavelli: Philosopher, Historian, Politician", by Innocenzo Spinazzi, 1787, marble and bronze.Above the sarcophagus  there is a statue that represents a female figure which is the allegory of politics. In her right hand she holds a medallion with the portrait of Machiavelli, in the left she holds the symbols of Politics, History and Poetry. On the sarcophagus there is the family coat of arms, and on the base a Latin epigraph whose translation i is "To such a great name, no epitaph is adequate"
