Sassuolo, Este Ducal Palace, the Bacchus Gallery: “Raising the Columns on the River Ganges”.The faux tapestry from which a putto peeks out depicts a vast river landscape dominated in the foreground by the scaffolding of the two Corinthian columns. Bacchus, seated on a boulder, observes the numerous workers with ropes and winches. It is one of the forty-one panels with scenes painted by Jean Boulanger which narrate the events of Bacchus.
